With an increasing emphasis on pupil voice, school radio is the perfect platform for students to firstly, find their voice and, secondly, improve their confidence through speaking. Russell mentions how this can raise self-esteem – giving students a focus and an opportunity to shine. Of course, thinking on your feet as a broadcaster needs creative thinking, and radio is a great way to practise and hone those skills.
